New York life

November 19, 2015 by Alain Le Kim

The colorful streets of Bushwick have transformed an area once full of industrial lots into a weird center where restaurants, coffee shops and bars are scattered in unexpected places. If you don't know the place, it seems charmless and sinister, but as soon as you are guided by someone who is familiar with the secrets of the grid of low buildings, steel palisades and derelict brick houses, your vision changes. The place suddenly acquires some kind of stimulating spirit. And it all becomes lively and welcoming. I have to say that I prefer it at night. It strangely seems less mysterious and more friendly than in the day. Especially on a grey day, where everything appears flat and lifeless. The darkness is sometimes beneficial in hiding the industrial side of these few blocks and highlighting the right spots…
